All artisans worldwide are invited to sign up to establish a presence on the Virtual Arts and Cultural Highway. You can now have your own 3D studio, gallery or space to invite people online to meet and see your work in a virtual world specifically designed for artisans. Imagine having regular showings of your work, sending out invitations and establishing a new world-wide audience for your work.
FIRST STEP:
- Please go to our Arts Highway Search Engine and be sure you have registered and are listed in our database.
SECOND STEP:
- Install and test the Active Worlds free software (www.activeworlds.com) to see if your computer and internet connection are adaquate or Click here to get the free software especially configured to land you directly inside the virtual Artshighway - The first time you run the software it may offer to update a couple of times to be sure you have the most current version, click yes.
THIRD STEP:
- Once installed, you can come back to this page and click this link to go directly there (World: ArtsHiway) . or just double click the Active Worlds Icon that gets installed on your desktop.
Once in, feel free to explore all the galleries and if you like, sign up to one of the Artisan Guilds found at the entrance in the Artisan's Village. As an introduction to virtual reality we will give you an immediate free presence in the Artisan's Village by providing an email or web site link directly back to you.
Once you gain some familiarity with 3D worlds, you may want to consider becoming more active by building or having us build for you, a small studio or gallery in virtual space where you can display your work. Many artisans have chosen simnply to be a part of our ongoing group shows.
Visiting the virtual galleries, meeting artists and others is free to everyone, however, if you would like more options, registering to become an official citizen of the Active Worlds Universe (for about $70 Can./year) will allow us to authorize you to build, install a custom 'avatar' (character that represents you in a virtual space) and many other features that help you network more effectively.
Space is alotted by Grid Units, the Guild Buildings if you have seen them, are approximately 2 Grid Units in size ( as an example when visiting the Artisan's Village near the entrance of the virtual ArtsHighway, you will see the Guild Buildings, they are approx. 2 Grid units in size.) .
The cost for virtual space on the Arts Highway starts out at only $5/mnth.(Canadian Funds) to rent a 2 Grid Unit area for your studio or gallery.
